September 2008 MTPPA Meeting with guest speaker Kirk Buffington, NIGP President and Director of Procurement for the city of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Mr. Buffington presents three MTPPA members with certifications obtained in 2008. This meeting also recognized the 28th anniversary of MTPPA.
August 2008 MTPPA Meeting with guest speaker Robert Ramsey, Director of Design, Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority discussing a current MNAA project -"MNAA Terminal Renovation". Also, Casandra Swan, Purchasing Technician, MNAA presents a overview and intro for Mr. Ramsey. Ken Guy, MTPPA VP of Programs introduces both aw well as presents an award to MNAA.

April 2008 MTPPA meeting with guest speaker George Street, CPPB, Director of Procurement, Tennessee Department of Military, who gave a presentation on the history and work of the Department of Military and Tennessee Emergency Management Agency.
March 2008 MTPPA meeting
- Happy Purchasing Month! Honored
guests Bill Whitson (Guest Speaker) with Members of Mr. Bill Whitson’s
family, Sam and Pam Whitson and Joe Whitson, Former Mayor Richard Fulton
and Trustee Charles Cardwell were in attendance. Also other guests
introduced in attendance were Charles Harrison, Ed Jones, Jay Dooley,
Dan McDougal, Joe Wiggins and George Street. Mr. Whitson discussed
his experiences in
purchasing and the formation of Metro government. Jeff
Gossage, Director of Procurement for Metro presented Mr. Whitson with a
plaque displaying his CPPO Certificate
(64th
to be issued in the nation) and announced that Metro Purchasing was
renaming its training room the "Bill Whitson Training Room" and that the
plaque would be placed in the room. Charlie Cardwell and Mayor Fulton
also made brief comments.
February 2008 MTPPA meeting
January 2008 MTPPA meeting with guest speaker, Chief Serpas, Chief of Police for Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County gave an interesting an often humorous talk about public service and the gains made by Metro Police Department in crime reduction.

Nurse at NES. Jackie who provided the membership with an
entertaining speech on how to handle “holiday stress.”
